Willkie represented Insight Partners on its strategic growth investment in Flightkeys Group, a leading provider of cloud-based flight planning and optimization software for global airlines. On September 20, Flightkeys announced its partnership with Insight Partners, which will enable the company to accelerate its investments into its strategic roadmap, R&D, and customer service. Flightkeys, based in Vienna, Austria, and its subsidiary companies, Spacekeys and Skykeys, develop and market software to optimize flight routes and flight schedules in real time for the aviation industry as well as systems to assess GPS satellite signals and a cockpit application to optimize flight trajectories. The investment is subject to customary regulatory approval and is expected to close in Q4 2024. Insight Partners is a global software investor partnering with high-growth technology, software, and Internet startup and ScaleUp companies. As of June 30, 2024, the firm has over $80 billion in regulatory assets under management. Willkie advised Davidson Kempner Capital Management LP on its joint acquisition with Nature Infrastructure Capital of the solar and storage project development platform of Greencells Group. On December 9, Davidson Kempner announced its joint acquisition of Greencell’s Netherlands-based development platform specializing in the acquisition, development, financing and operation of renewable and sustainable energy projects in Europe and Canada. The transaction includes a project portfolio of nearly four gigawatts of utility-scale solar and battery projects, with nearly 800 megawatts at a ready-to-build stage. Willkie represented Insight Partners on its majority investment in Cosmo Tech, a market leader in AI Simulation software for enterprise decision making. On December 2, Cosmo Tech, which helps large organizations navigate complexity and uncertainty in enterprise decisioning, announced a majority investment from Insight Partners, with participation from former Accenture executives Phillip Hazen and Gerry Coulter. Following the investment, Cosmo Tech will establish a new office in the DC metro area, anticipated to open in early 2025. In addition to the existing European commercial and product resources, this new base will support the company's North American operations and facilitate closer collaboration with the partner ecosystem and key customers in the manufacturing, transportation, and energy sectors. On January 5, Howden announced that it agreed to acquire Atlantic Group. The combination of Howden, the largest transaction liability insurance broker outside of the U.S., and Atlantic Group creates a new global force in the transaction liability market. Through the combination, Atlantic Group’s founders will become Howden shareholders and will take on key roles in Howden’s U.S. retail broking growth and global transactional liability strategy. Willkie advised Insight Partners as co-lead investor in a $55 million Series C funding round for Pomelo, a Latin America-based payments infrastructure company. On January 20, Pomelo announced that it raised $55 million in Series C financing from Insight Partners and other global investors, establishing Pomelo as a leading financial infrastructure platform for Latin America.
