Paul, Weiss is advising Apollo in the formation of a strategic partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiary Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited (SuMi TRUST), the only dedicated trust banking group in Japan. Under the terms of the partnership, SuMi TRUST has committed to investing $1.5 billion side-by-side with Apollo and Athene in a proprietary portfolio of diversified alternative assets. The partnership underscores Apollo’s commitment to Asia-Pacific, including in Japan where the firm is increasing its presence to capitalize on significant market opportunities.
