Accenture said Tuesday it will acquire Ookla, a Seattle-based provider of internet data products, from Ziff Davis, in a deal that Accenture said will give customers insights into network metrics that are increasingly critical in the age of artificial intelligence. Both Accenture and Ziff Davis announced the deal, with the latter company stating the purchase price as $1.2 billion in cash. Ookla's network intelligence and analytics include data products like Speedtest, Downdetector, Ekahau and RootMetrics. Accenture said the acquisition will help communications service providers, or CSPs, hyperscalers and enterprises "optimize the mission-critical Wi-Fi and 5G networks that power their digital core." "Network data is no longer just a lifeline for the telecoms industry; it now creates significant value across all sectors," according to Accenture. "As AI scales, the insights captured at the network, device, and application layers are essential to enhance fraud prevention in banking, smart home analytics in utilities, and traffic optimization in retail." Ookla comes with a team of approximately 430 experts specializing in software engineering, radio frequency engineering and data science, Accenture said. By comparison, Accenture, which "helps the world's leading enterprises reinvent by building their digital core and unleashing the power of AI to create value at speed across the enterprise," said it has approximately 784,000 personnel. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals, Accenture said. In a statement, Vivek Shah, CEO of Ziff Davis, called the deal transformative, "representing a significant realization of value for our shareholders and a concrete illustration of the quality of the businesses in our portfolio." Kirkland & Ellis advised Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR), a global science and technology innovator, on a definitive agreement to acquire Masimo Corporation (NASDAQ: MASI), a leading specialty diagnostics provider of pulse oximetry and other patient monitoring solutions, primarily in acute care settings. Under the terms of the agreement, Danaher will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Masimo common stock for $180 per share in cash, or a total enterprise value of approximately $9.9 billion including assumed indebtedness and net of acquired cash. Danaher Corp. said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Masimo Corp. in a deal valued at about $9.9 billion, including debt, with Kirkland & Ellis LLP advising Danaher and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and White & Case LLP representing Masimo. Under the agreement, Danaher will pay $180 per share in cash for all outstanding common stock of Masimo, a specialty diagnostics company, according to announcements from the companies on Tuesday. After closing, Masimo is expected to operate as a standalone company within Danaher's diagnostics segment alongside units such as Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Cepheid, and Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. Danaher CEO and President Rainer M. Blair said Masimo's pulse oximetry and patient monitoring technologies are strategic fits for the company and will strengthen its diagnostics segment. Pulse oximetry measures blood oxygen. "With the Danaher Business System and our global scale, we see opportunities to expand Masimo's reach and continue improving outcomes for patients, particularly those in acute care settings," Blair said in a Tuesday statement. Katie Szyman, CEO of Masimo, said the company looks forward to "continuing our growth and momentum as the global leader in patient monitoring," adding that "Danaher shares our commitment to investing in talent and innovation and will be an ideal fit." She said the backing of Danaher's diagnostics segment will bolster Masimo's ability to "scale our monitoring technologies globally." The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year, subject to regulatory approvals and Masimo shareholder consents, the companies said. Danaher said it plans to fund the acquisition through a combination of cash on hand and debt financing. Danaher, based in Washington, D.C., is a global life sciences and diagnostics company with 60,000 employees worldwide. Irvine, California-based Masimo specializes in noninvasive monitoring technologies, including pulse oximetry widely used in acute care settings. Kirkland & Ellis and Freshfields are advising on the acquisition of U.S. billboard operator Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings by a Mubadala Capital and TWG Global consortium, marking a fresh push by Gulf investors into U.S. media and infrastructure assets. The all-cash deal values NYSE-listed Clear Channel at $6.2 billion and will see the investors acquire all outstanding shares. Clear Channel’s board unanimously approved the agreement. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, after which Clear Channel will be delisted. Kirkland is advising Clear Channel with a 16-lawyer team led by David Klein, Patrick Salvo and Daniel Wolf. The firm previously advised the company on an $865 million debt offering in 2024 and on the proposed $497 million voluntary general offer by a consortium to acquire its controlling shareholder in 2020. Freshfields is advising Mubadala Capital and TWG Global with a team of more than 30 lawyers. The firm has previously faced Mubadala across the table when advising other clients. Separately, the firm advised Uber on its acquisition of Getir’s delivery portfolio in Turkey from Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund. Mubadala Capital’s deal comes amid a surge in Gulf investment in the U.S., led by sovereign wealth funds. Sovereign and public pension funds invested $132 billion in the U.S. in 2025, nearly half of their global allocations, according to Global SWF. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) topped the rankings, while Mubadala was the most active investor for a second straight year, deploying $33.7 billion. Overall, the seven largest Gulf funds invested $119 billion, up 43% from 2024. Last year, Kirkland advised a consortium including Saudi PIF on the $55 billion take-private of Electronic Arts, one of the largest leveraged buyouts on record. Separately, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld advised Mubadala on its minority investment in U.S. healthcare technology firm Zelis. Kirkland, Latham & Watkins, and Sterlington also advised on the $40 billion acquisition of Texas-based Aligned Data Centers by a consortium including Abu Dhabi’s MGX and BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners. More recently, Paul Hastings advised a majority of the investor consortium members, which includes Abu Dhabi‑based MGX alongside U.S. investors such as Oracle and Silver Lake, on the formation of TikTok’s U.S. data and operations joint venture. Other law firms, including Kirkland, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Hogan Lovells, also advised on elements of the transaction. SWFs and other Gulf investment vehicles are among the key drivers of U.S and UK law firm launches in the Gulf states. Kirkland’s Riyadh office, for example, advises PIF. Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, which launched in Abu Dhabi last year, also counts PIF and Mubadala among its Gulf clients. In November, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, which advises PIF and its portfolio companies, opened an office in Riyadh.
