Kirkland & Ellis advised Butterfly, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm specializing in the food sector, and its portfolio company Orgain, the U.S.’ leading plant-based functional nutrition platform, on the sale of a majority stake in Orgain to Nestlé Health Science. Butterfly, alongside investors Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board and DCP Capital, acquired a majority stake in Orgain in November 2019. Ontario Teachers’ and DCP Capital will also maintain minority ownership positions in the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Milk Specialties is an industry-leading, vertically integrated ingredient manufacturer focused on the processing of raw dairy inputs, such as milk and liquid whey, into value-added functional ingredients for a variety of growing nutrition end markets. Kirkland & Ellis advised health care investment firm Patient Square Capital on a definitive agreement for a strategic partnership with CorroHealth, a revenue cycle management provider for health systems and health plans. The transaction was announced October 24, 2024. Current shareholders, including investment funds affiliated with global investment firm Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG), TT Capital Partners, Sanaka Group, and CorroHealth management, will remain investors, with Patient Square and Carlyle sharing joint control of CorroHealth.
